Huge and not very pretty arts centre

Popular cultural, educational and conference centre situated just east of the Isar. From the populist to the high-brow, the Gasteig is home to the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Richard Strauss Conservatory, the Volkshochschule (community college) and the municipal library. Opened 1985.
