Bar Jeans (Closed Permanently) Formerly: Bolt

Atmospheric, kinda rustic and local-feeling bar which opened in the early 1980s (as Bolt) but which has changed hands at least three times, with the current owner Georg Hörmann (since 2001) also overseeing the cruise bar Camp [see entry]. The woody space is narrow — with the bar dominated by 15 or so bar stools — and the oldies playlist reflects the period look and feel; very little has changed since the early days. Surely a film about 1980s clones could be shot here with no tweaking of the decor, and gay cowboys might very well feel at home. This quiet jewel of a place is within crawling distance of many of the bars in the Glockenbachviertel, and tends to get busy after 2am once the other venues have been exhausted. Good things come to those who wait. Closing times are not fixed and vary with the buzz (or lack of it). U-Bahns: Sendlinger Tor and Marienplatz. Sadly the bar closed in 2015.
