Englischer Garten (English Garden)

(1 Rating)
Bigger than Central Park and Hyde Park
A vast space of beautiful greens, endless paths and countless streams, this former hunting ground became the continent's first public garden, conceived, built and elaborated on between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, credited to Benjamin Thompson (later Reichsgraf von Rumford), Freiherr von Werneck and ultimately Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell. A beer garden around the striking Chinese Tower ranks as Munich's second largest. And there's an orangery for art exhibitions.
